Fall flowers in Los Angeles

In Los Angeles we count September through November as fall, and our shop moves to burgundy, orange, rust and gold. Dahlias lead most designs here. Their season runs from July through October, and sunflowers are in season until the end of September. We have both all year; out of season the heads are smaller, and dahlias come mostly in white and pink. If a flower isn’t available on your date, we replace it with one of equal or greater value in the same colors. Most designs stay all year, and we add new ones each fall. Some pieces are made in the fall only, and their product pages say so. For dahlias in every color, see Dahlias.

For a table, there are pieces like these: flowers in a real pumpkin ($199), flowers in an orange ceramic pumpkin that stays as a vase ($199), and a round box with four mini pumpkins tucked among dahlias and garden roses (from $179). For a Thanksgiving table there is also a low centerpiece of red and orange dahlias and black calla lilies with two black taper candles in a square black vase ($149).

Thanksgiving centerpieces

Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday of November. Any of these table pieces works for Thanksgiving dinner, and a dahlia box suits a smaller table or a gift for the host. We plan to deliver on Thanksgiving, but a date can close when we’re fully booked or the shop is reserved for an event. A closed date can’t be picked in your bag, and we announce it on the site. The 6 AM rule still applies: for delivery on the day, order by 6 AM that morning. Deliveries arrive between 12 PM and 8 PM, so for an early dinner, choose the Wednesday before, or call (323) 493-1514 before you order to arrange a time.

When is fall flower season in Los Angeles?

We count September through November as fall. Dahlias, the main fall flower in our shop, are in season from July through October, and sunflowers until the end of September. We have both all year, with smaller heads out of season. Roses, spray roses and stock we carry all year, and in fall we choose them in deep red, orange, yellow and dusty pink to match.

Are the pumpkins real?

In two of the three pieces, yes. One arrangement is built inside a fresh pumpkin with a liner and wet floral foam, so the pumpkin never sits in water. The flower box carries four real mini pumpkins among the flowers. The third piece uses an orange ceramic pumpkin as its vase, and it stays with the recipient after the flowers are gone.

When should I order a Thanksgiving centerpiece?

As soon as you know where dinner is, because the date can close once we're fully booked. Pick it in your bag, and we'll choose the flowers that morning. For delivery on Thanksgiving Day, order by 6 AM that morning; deliveries arrive between 12 PM and 8 PM. For an early dinner, choose the Wednesday before, or call us before you order to arrange a time.

How do I care for flowers in a pumpkin or a box?

Add a little water to the floral foam every day, so it never dries out. Keep the piece in a cool spot, out of direct sun and away from the oven and heaters, which matters on a day of cooking. Pull off any flower that fades. In the ceramic pumpkin, top up the water and change it every 2 days.

Can I order dahlias in November?

Yes, we have dahlias all year. Their season runs July through October; in November the heads are smaller and the colors mostly white and pink, so we can't promise a particular shade. If a color in your design isn't available, we replace that flower with one of equal or greater value in the same colors. For same-day delivery, order by 6 AM.
